About the Role

Our client in the mining industry is looking for a Site Manager to oversee safe and efficient operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining strict safety protocols for explosives on-site. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Strategic Management
• Contribute to and align departmental strategy with overall business objectives.
• Annually develop, present, and secure approval for the departmental strategy.

Operational Planning & Performance
• Develop and implement operational plans including KPIs and project goals.
• Track and report departmental performance, identifying gaps and corrective actions.
• Ensure company-wide compliance with local laws and corporate standards.

Policy, Process & Systems Management
• Oversee development and enforcement of departmental policies and procedures.
• Monitor process efficiency and compliance, and drive system utilization improvements.
• Ensure regulatory requirements are up to date and reflected in internal processes.

Technical Operations
• Manage day-to-day mine site operations, including scheduling, logistics, and inventory control.
• Oversee procurement, supplier management, and stock tracking aligned with site demands.
• Ensure fleet efficiency, maintenance, and compliance.
• Enforce SOX, governance, and hazardous materials storage and handling protocols.

Financial Management
• Develop annual budgets and monitor monthly spend against targets.
• Address variances and implement cost controls as needed.

Risk & Compliance
• Maintain departmental risk and disaster recovery frameworks.
• Proactively identify and address operational risks and non-compliance.

SHE Management
• Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) regulations.
• Monitor SHE practices, provide training, and resolve non-compliance issues promptly.

Stakeholder & Service Provider Management
• Build and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Oversee service provider performance and take corrective action when needed.

People Management
• Recruit, develop, and manage staff performance.
• Ensure adequate resourcing and support employee development.
• Enforce HR policies and address non-compliance.

Technical Management:
• Manage mine site operations, including scheduling, material distribution, and inventory control.
• Oversee supplier relationships, inventory levels, and risk management.
• Track fleet performance, ensure maintenance, and maintain compliance.
• Implement SOX controls, conduct audits, and submit required reports.
• Safely store and handle hazardous materials, ensuring regulatory compliance with FIFO systems.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Logistics, or Commerce (From a reputable institution)

  • CIE Responsible Person certification

  • 5+ years’ experience in explosives supply chain

  • Proven knowledge of explosives value chain and outbound logistics

  • 3–5 years’ people management experience
