About the Role
Our client in the consulting engineering environment is seeking a Professionally Registered Senior Civil Engineer to lead the delivery of civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will oversee design, project management, and contract administration, while mentor technical teams and maintaining high-quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Act as Project Leader/Senior Design Engineer on multidisciplinary civil projects
• Lead project inception and costing with clients
• Investigate and propose alternative technical solutions
• Prepare, compile, and review technical and project reports
• Manage project teams responsible for draughting, design, and detailing
• Perform complex civil designs, including roads, water, sewer, and stormwater systems
• Review project designs and drawings, and conduct design reviews for other projects
• Maintain ISO 9001 quality assurance standards across all deliverables
• Prepare man-hour budgets, monitor project finances, and ensure cost control
• Manage tendering processes, including documentation and bid submissions
• Administer contracts, monitor site works, and ensure compliance with technical specifications
• Engage with clients to maintain strong relationships and identify future opportunities
• Mentor, coach, and train technicians, technologists, and engineers
• Assist with staff resource management and oversee division training needs
• Archive completed projects and compile project sheets for reference
• Support business development through marketing, client engagement, and tender preparation
• Undertake any other duties as required by departmental or executive management
Requirements
BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering (NQF Level 7)
Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) – essential
Minimum 15 years’ experience in the design, site supervision, and contract documentation of civil engineering projects
At least 3 years’ experience managing Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) type projects
Proficient in Civil 3D and experienced in municipal infrastructure design
Strong technical knowledge of roads, sewerage, water, and stormwater systems
Proven experience in project management, tender preparation, and client liaison
