
About the Role
Our client in the mining industry is seeking a Logistics Operations Manager to oversee multiple operational sites across Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Contribute to organizational strategy by understanding key strategic drivers and providing input annually.
• Develop departmental strategy aligned to business objectives, securing approvals annually.
• Create and submit departmental operations plans, including projects and KPIs, for approval.
• Report on departmental performance against targets, identifying areas of concern and progress, submitting quarterly or as required.
• Manage operational performance by tracking targets, identifying anomalies, and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with local and corporate requirements, promoting ethical behavior and integrity.
• Oversee the development and implementation of departmental business processes, monitoring efficiency and compliance.
• Develop departmental policies and procedures aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Implement logistics strategy effectively, ensuring optimal stock placement, adherence to plans, and cost reductions.
• Manage departmental expenditure, tracking spend against budget and taking corrective action where necessary.
• Develop and maintain departmental risk management framework, reviewing strategies and implementing improvements.
• Manage SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) by ensuring training programs are completed and compliance gaps addressed.
• Monitor and implement HR policies, addressing areas of non-compliance and corrective actions.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
Must have 8–10 years’ operational logistics or supply chain experience in a mining environment.
Proficiency in SAP, ERP systems, and MS Office.
Strong leadership and people management experience, including managing teams, performance, and operational objectives.
Knowledge of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) standards and compliance in a mining context.
