About the Role

Our client in Air conditioning industry is seeking for an experienced HVAC Engineer/Technician to take ownership of the design, installation, maintenance, and servicing of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across commercial, industrial, and residential projects. The successful candidate will ensure that all HVAC systems are designed and operated to the highest standards of efficiency, performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and oversee installation of HVAC systems for new and existing projects.
• Conduct system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs to optimize performance.
• Prepare BOQs, technical reports, and cost estimates for HVAC-related works.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on air conditioning units and ventilation systems.
• Ensure compliance with SANS, ASHRAE, and relevant industry codes and standards.
• Manage site teams, subcontractors, and ensure quality workmanship.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors for technical coordination.
• Provide energy efficiency recommendations and implement sustainability solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the HVAC or air conditioning industry.

  • Proven experience with system design, installation, and maintenance in commercial and industrial environments.

  • Familiarity with HVAC control systems (BMS), chilled water systems, and VRV/VRF technologies

  • National Diploma or BTech/BEng in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.

  • Trade Test Certificate in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (advantageous for technicians).

  • Valid Driver’s Licence

  • ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) – Candidate or Registered Professional Engineer/Technologist preferred.

  • SARACCA (South African Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association) membership advantageous.
