About the Role
Our client in the consulting engineering firm is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer/Technologist with expensive experience in Electrical Building Services and Rural Electrification design. This role is based in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
• Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of advanced complexity with the help of the draughtsmen.
• Good understanding of the design principles related to the following systems:
o MV and LV Overhead Lines.
o MV Switchgear.
o LV Switchgear.
o Motor Control Centres.
o Lighting and small power.
o Earthing and Lightning Protection.
o Generator Installations.
o UPS Installations.
o CCTV Installations.
o Fire Detection Installations.
o Access Control Installations.
o Building and Parking Management System Installations.
o Energy Efficiency and Green Building Installations.
• Exposure to solar, wind and alternative energy system will be an added advantage.
• Deliver Electrical documents and drawings including, but not limited to, the following:
o Design calculations.
o Single Line Diagrams.
o Equipment Lay-outs.
o Schematic Diagrams.
o Racking and Routing Drawings.
o General Arrangement Drawings.
o Cable Block Diagrams.
o Panel General Arrangement Drawings.
• Documents:
o Progress Reports and Meetings.
o Design Criteria; Design Report; Specifications.
o Equipment Data Sheets.
o Cable Schedules
o BOQ inputs; Tender Documentation Compilation
o Perform system design reviews.
o Perform field surveys.
Requirements
Minimum B. Sc / B Eng / BTech. Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical Building Services and Rural Electrification design.
Responsible for all electrical design activities, reporting to Management.
Strong understanding of electrical design requirements and practices across project phases.
Experience with greenfield, brownfield, and system integration projects.
Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
Able to function effectively in a small team and deliver complete electrical designs.
Willing to travel to project sites as needed to support design and construction.
Experience with tender document preparation, presentations, and evaluation reports.
